Let’s see, what’s been going on in my life lately. Hmm, I got my nails done. I’ve been eating lots of junk food but trying to snack on more fruits. Hmm…what else happened?
OH! I GOT MARRIED!
I guess I should have led with that. Brett and I are officially married, officially husband and wife and we cannot be more over the moon about it. I cannot wait to share with you all of the sweet memories of the wedding day. The second I get my hands on the wedding video and our beautiful photos I will be posting them on here! So stay tuned.
I’ve been putting off sharing these because honestly, it’s hard to relay how beautiful our time in Hawaii was. It was the honeymoon I’d been dreaming about forever! I mean… it’s Hawaii!!! I wouldn’t have picked any other place in the world to spend our first incredible, romantic week of being married. It was so surreal waking up next to each other every morning and then planning our day of adventure. Maui was full of adventure and it was so peaceful and I really can’t describe it in words.
We spent our honeymoon in Maui for our week long stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani. The first thing I noticed about the island were all the mountains! You just don’t expect to see that when you are driving around an island!
Day 1 of honeymooning was amazing!! We had a delicious breakfast, spent the day at the beach, swam with a massive sea turtle (on accident) , ate the best fish tacos in Maui, went snorkeling, discovered the slide at the pool, hung out at the pool bar at our resort, did a little shopping, ate cheese burgers, and wrapped the day up watching the sunset on the balcony with my husband!!!
Day 2 was another amazing day in Maui! We started off with another AMAZING breakfast followed up with a private pool side cabana for the day! I treated my husband (and myself) to a couples massage at the Willow Stream Spa! We had lunch at the pool side bar and then we visited the aquarium that evening!!
Day 3 in Maui we went to the top of the volcano! It’s about a 2.5 hour trip up to the top! It was literally the coolest thing! 10,023 feet up! It was so cold and windy but so worth the drive!!!! We came down and ate at a little lodge near the bottom called The Kula Lodge that had incredible views of the island as well! We stopped in a little town called Pi’ai and ate the best shaved ice ever! We did a real quick walk around the town and also made a wrong turn and ran into a popular kite surfing area which was so cool to watch! We came back to the resort and swam and walked the ocean and went to dinner at a restaurant here at the resort called Nicks Fish House and had an incredible meal!! After dinner, we went to find some pie at this place called the Monkeypod. They just so happen to specialize in the best mai tais on Maui!!
On day 4 we did the Road to Hana. Hands down the most amazing thing we have ever done or seen! The Road to Hana has 617 hairpin curves and 59 unforgiving one-lane bridges, not to mention an incredible number of blind spots along the way. We downloaded the Gypsy App-Road to Hana and it was the best piece of advice we got about the trip. The only thing I will add to that is to make sure to bring your phone charger because on the way back….our phone died!! There were SO MANY amazing views, waterfalls, beaches, food stands, trees, flowers…you name it. It was incredible!! Just take a look.
Day 6 in Maui was spent kayaking in the ocean and snorkeling…..we got to see a sea turtle, hold an octopus, and some sea critters! After that was relaxing, trying new shaved ice, and ending with a luau that I didnt get any pictures of!!
We got to enjoy our last full day in Maui relaxing by the pool, enjoying one last meal (and of course…shaved ice), chased a rainbow and headed to the airport before out flight left…AT 8:30 MAUI TIME!!!!!
Maui was AMAZING!! We did so many fun things and yet there were still so many things to do! We can’t wait to go back again….until then Aloha!
